Wonderful Camera
This camera takes great photos you just point and shoot and it takes care of the rest.

I love this item
This Camera is wonderful it takes awesome pictures and the pictures print out great as well they really capture the moment. "a picture you can hold is way more powerful than a picture you can only see"

Great Camera!
You never know what you are going to get when you purchase something used. Plus, some people lie. But I was amazed at the kindness of my seller and the almost perfectly new-ness of the camera I ordered from her. It was still in the original box and came with lots of extra goodies for it. I'm not even sure if she's actually used it. It was shipped and received here days before I was even expecting it. I was quite happy. Camera works great for someone who doesn't know the technical side to photography---which is me. I wanted it mostly for my Africa mission trip this summer, but I have been playing with it already and am loving it. The only thing i miss is that there is no video on it---and I like to take short video clips.

Big Things Come in Small Packages
I have to say, I am totally and utterly in love with my camera. I bought this beauty in Feb of this year (2009). I bought it along with a couple of lenses and a speedlight. It is very easy to learn on. The camera takes wonderful photo's. Any issues have been totally user related. That camera does exactly what it is told to do. The software it comes with is easy to use. What more can I say, I just LOVE it!
GREAT!
First DSLR. Coming from a AE-1 Program to the XSi. Could not be happier... Easy to use and included lens good enough to take most pictures of family, pets, parties. Would recommend to anyone looking for plenty of options and great quality pictures.

Canon Leads, Nikon, Others in the Industry Follow
Canon has come a long way since it first turned the DSLR, the consumer digital version of 35 mm cameras, on it's ear about a half a decade ago. While competitors like Nikon and others have attempted to keep up, equal, or top Canon with a slightly better feature here or there, Canon still leads, the the industry follows. So the question when buying is this, do you want to buy the leader, or are you just a follower. Myself, personally, am not into imitation, and I've tried some of the other units including Nikon DSLRs, which their images always look hard, cold, and slightly off. Sony comes to bat with a lower entry price but not as much support sadly or features, Olympus as well. There's others of course, but really there's Canon and then everyone else.

I like this camera, a lot, but have to deduct a half point as it's quality is even cheaper than the original 300D (Rebel XT), the plastics make it feel very toy-like. The other half a point is this camera has quite possibly the loudest shutter ever, next to perhaps those cameras that make the supposed shutter closing sound effect turned up to 11. I've shot with other consumer-grade Canon and Nikons that are much more quiet than this, it's really uncalled for on Canon's part. Perhaps their shutters are made of the same cheap plastic they're using for their cases. The 450D (XSi) is so loud, it borders on frustratingly annoying. Don't use this camera for even slightly hushed performances or places where some degree of silence is required, you'll only irk people. If shooting in even remotely quiet places requires no disturbance you may need to upgrade to a 5D or some such to retain the Canon quality edge and a quieter shutter.

D300/D90 are fantastic .... from a long time Canon shooter
I'm a long time Canon shooter, about 20 years actually. I decided to go "to the dark side" a few months ago due to ongoing quality control problems w/ Canon. I recently purchased a D300, D90, Sigma 150 macro, Nikon 16-85 VR and Nikon 70-300 VR to replace my Canon 1D Mark II, 40D and assorted lenses. The D300 is by far the best camera I think I've ever used and the D90 is almost as good. While the D90 doesn't have the weather sealed build or AF system of the D300, it is still built very well and also has a nice accurate AF system. I'd say the D90 offers 80% of what the D300 does at a much better price point for most people. Even the kit lens for the D90 is better than I expected, though I do wish it had a metal mount instead of plastic. Nice job Nikon. The only thing I miss from the Canon line-up is their pro-quality F4L lineup (17-40, 24-105, 70-200) but the above mentioned Nikon consumer glass comes very very close to the quality of the Canon pro glass at a fraction of the cost so I'm not complaining.

Nikon D90
This camera is the best camera I have ever owned. It was everything I expected and even more. I would recommend this camera to anyone interested in improving their photography and adding a whole new level to it.

amazing...
This is a wonderful camera... I owned (and still own) a nikon D50 which I will use as a backup. My wife no longer needs to put on her glasses when I take a picture and show her on the 3 inch (incredible resolution) screen. I cant go on and on like other people about cameras, all I can say is I am not disappointed in this product. I bought it for the camera itself I have not taken any HD video with it... that was never my intent. Its like a "nice backup" if i ever need it. My only regret? Buying a camera that has anything to do with any association with Aston Kutcher... This camera has allot more talent than he has.

great entry-level DSLR
I've had my canon XS for about a month, and I'm in love with it. I upgraded from a Canon point-and-shoot after becoming more serious about photography. I researched for quite a while, and I found that while the XSi seemed to be the best choice for a first DSLR, the price difference didn't make the jump seem worth it. (I'm a poor college student and I wanted/needed a camera for a class, so I didn't have a lot of money to save up.) One of my flatmates and another friend both have canon XSi's that I've played around with, and I can honestly say that I'm just as pleased with mine. The other reviews make extensive notes on the features, so I won't bother with that, but I will say the only drawback (well, to any canon product) is the software. If you have a Mac, don't bother using it and import through iPhoto.

Great entry dSLR
This is the first camera I've used that is a dSLR and I'm really enjoying it. If you've never used this kind of camera before, then I'd recommend getting a book on dSLR cameras to really begin to understand how it works. However, I love this camera. The images are crisp and it's a definite step forward as far photography goes.

Despite this and removing a star, it has most if not many the features the higher prosumer level cameras have no blurring the line further between the $1K+ set and the sub $1K set of choices. In terms of bang for the buck, you're not going to get anything better. Besides, the true testament to taking good shots is in your glass, so if you're taking the route of investing in lenses and skimping a bit on the camera body, this is the camera for you! The images are stunning, no doubt about, it's almost hard, other than perhaps upping their body quality and shutter quality, what Canon could do better with the Rebel series, but I'm sure Canon will figure something out, and all the other poor imitations out there (Nikon, et. al.) will continue to play catch up.
